ATypI Dublin: I am happy and honored to have been announced as a panelist at this year's ATypI conference in Dublin («the word», September 8–12). Coming from my junior perspective, I will have the opportunity to discuss Pitfalls and Pleasures of Collaborative Typeface Design with my design partner Hrant Papazian, my former teacher André Baldinger and other (rather illustrious) guests! (Saturday, September 11, 2:55pm.)
Just printed: I was very happy to design this birth announcement card for my good friend Conny’s second daughter Laura. In terms of colors, I played off the happy coincidence that the kids are wearing red & pink in all the photo material I received; I reduced other colors, and used black and pure magenta for the (bilingual) text. For the main font, I wanted something memorable – something classy, but fresh; Steve Mehallo's Jeanne Moderno Titling does the job wonderfully, and I enjoy how it works together with FF Dagny Thin.
Fresh from the Presses: small posters and postcards to advertise a literary competition initiated by the independent local editing office Lektorat Literatur – and at the same time to announce the event at which winning entries will be publicly discussed (November, at Dichter- und Stadtmuseum Liestal). To communicate both these aspects, I have developed this «layered» layout in keeping with the existing, «process-centered» visual identity of Lektorat Literatur.
